Well...why doesn't it just happen when we decide we're ready?

You know, you wait all your life for the right time...the right time for everything. The right time to start crawling and walking...okay, I might have fallen a few times, but I remember picking it up pretty quickly! The right time to toss your pacifier. Yes, I actually did throw my paci away on my own, age 2 I believe my mother told me. The right time to make a friend. I dont remember too many rejections that first time or two. The right time to cheat on a math test. Okay, not the coolest thing to do, but it worked for me at the time. The right time to get my first job. A little encouragement from the parents didn't hurt on this one, but I landed it and that's the point. The first time.....we'll, I could go on and on.
So here I am, 36 years old, happily married to the love of a lifetime, my lifetime, and we're ready to start our family. We've been trying...oh yes, we've been trying. [dramatic pause. sound of crickets in the background.]
That's right, nothing's happening. Can't be for lack of desire. Can't be for lack of effort. Can't be for lack of ability to support the helpless poop factory. So what can it be?
Since the natural, time honored, traditional way of getting pregnant hasnt worked, we decided to call in the experts and go to a fertility doctor. Great doc, happy, positive, made us feel like this could happen. Things are looking up!
Brian had his sperm analysis done. And yes, I did accompany him into "the room". I also had an initial ultrasound, blood work, the basics. We get to meet with the Dr. again this coming Thursday to find out what the tests revealed. In the meantime, he had me take round one of a first line of offense fertility drug, Clomiphene Citrate, or "Clomid" for short. Clomid stimulates the hormones that control the egg dropping process. Women who concieve using Clomid have a higher chance of twins, which is great in our case, since we want twins. We are praying for twins...a boy and a girl would be ideal. (As long as we are praying, might as well get specific, right?)
So, obviously the first round didnt work, as I am not pregnant. I tested last Friday. I've been testing every Friday. One of these Friday's I'm going to surprise myself and as I'm picking up the test with the momentum of tossing the again negative result in the trash, I'm going to see two red lines instead of one red line....i just know it! Then I'll have to drag the thing out of the trash and celebrate the victory! Keep rooting for the home team, Team Nutt, we're in it to win it!
